My Supplies
As I mentioned in my index page, I draw traditionally from time to time. There are a bunch of items I like to use so I will list the main ones here including the Amazon link if you are interested ;D
- Tombow Fudenosuke Soft
I recommend these brush pens for expressive lines while also remaining in control. They are waterproof too so great if you plan to use watercolor. Make sure to leave the ink to dry after a day or so!
I use these for the main inking of my illustration, but the fact that it's a brush pen can help give varying line weights.
- Uniball Signo White Gel Pen
These pens provide one of the whitest inks I have ever seen. They are perfect for when I want to put highlights on top of the black ink.
They can also be used to "erase" mistakes since the ink is very opaque.
- Muji Black Gel Pen .38
I like to use these pens for sketching and for smaller details while inking with the Tombow Brush Pen.
They are great not only for drawing but also for note taking since the ink dries pretty fast.
I provided a link to Amazon, but I highly suggest buying them inperson from the MUJI Store, as to hopefully prevent fake pens.
- Pentel Hi-Polymer Eraser
You might be thinking "What is so special about these erasers?". I prefer these over other erasers for my inking as they provide less friction to help keep my ink on the page.
It also reduces the amount of pencil shavings that is left over by a whole lot. You dont have to press hard and the pencil marks are cleanly wiped away. You can buy them at Staples too.
- Muji Plain Notebook
This type of sketchbook comes in black as well, but usually on the Muji website, these books tend to be sold out no matter the color.
I like this sketchbook since they were made with high quality smooth paper clearly for inks and you can easily flip it since it has rings.
I would also suggest going to the MUJI Store to go check out the books yourself but good luck finding them if they are not sold out.
They come in different sizes and the paper is off white, almost like a yellow cream.
